Not every Fall is as stellar as the one I experienced a few years ago. This image is one of many that I hope to contribute to the (I’m sure) large pool of beauty that will be forthcoming from around the internet photosphere in the next couple of months. It was shot with a Nikon N90s and 28-70mm lens on Fujichrome Velvia film. For a deeper saturation, I used a polarizing filter.
On another day, the weather was pretty damp and dreary which made the colors appear even more saturated. These additional shots were made with an early digital (can you say primitive) camera. . .not a lot of detail quality but the colors were captured in their natural vibrancy.
At the time of this shoot, I was still mostly using film cameras with Velvia and Provia slide films. So, my processing for these (digital) images leans toward the Velvia side. But, I didn’t have to do much color work except for just a little toning down of the yellows and greens and punching the reds.

Nice shots, Mark. It’s nice to see the Fall season begin it’s transition toward it’s natural beauty. I am looking forward to some of the great images that will be coming forth in the weeks ahead.
Thanks, Jimi. I’m hoping for some nice color this year. We’ll see!
That first image is a real winner Mark. Great color and composition. I can’t wait for the colors to change here in New England.
Thanks, Len. That image came from probably the best year in the mid west that I ever experienced. I think I’ll scan a few more slides.
