After spending a very cool, sunny day on the Mall in Washington, DC, it was time to pack up and head back to the Metro. This HDR monochrome is from a trip last year when I was able to get quite a large amount of HDR brackets. I’ve posted a few already but wanted to continue with my color alternative images for a bit and present this one in beautiful Black & White. The color image is nice but I think this version portrays the mood. You know; tired, chilly and hungry.
This shot was taken at the east side of the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium on Constitution Avenue as we were heading back to the Metro. I’m not sure what station we arrived at but the Federal Triangle Metro station was where we were headed. Being led around by very knowledgeable relatives has its advantages.
This image was produced from 5 shots taken with my Nikon D700 and 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. Processing via Nik HDR Efex Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

This looks like a painting Mark, incredible work
Thanks, Dave. Appreciated.
I really like the look and feel of this one, Mark. Very nice B&W with great lines and textures.
Thanks, Jimi.
Excellent leading lines Mark. Terrific work.
Thanks, Edith.
This is an interesting composition, Mark, one I like very much. I don’t think I have ever been in this area without there being some very strong shadows which prevented me from making any usable images.
Thanks for the comment, Mark. Yes, the shadows were deep but the five ev spread helped a lot in post processing.
