You’re probably wondering about the title. Well, this HDR image is actually a shot of a dog fetching a stick in the lake. Look closely! This is my last photo from the trail at South Tar Greenway in Greenville, NC. As you can see, the day was beautiful and perfect for this shot produced from nine exposures.
I’m doing some family visit time and traveling for the next couple of weeks. But I’m still going to try to continue my posts.
Processing: This image was produced from nine exposures from -2 to +2 ev at .5 ev spacing. In Nik HDR Efex Pro, I worked with a number of Control Points to selectively maximize Structure and tonality in the trees and clouds. I used Adobe Photoshop to balance the colors with Hue/Saturation and added a little more contrast with Curves. After getting just the right balance in the light and dark areas of the sky and trees, I used the dodge tool to add more contrast to the trees and foreground bushes.
Equipment used: Nikon D700 with 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens, 20mm, f/11, ISO 400.

Wonderful shot Mark. I love the drama in the clouds and how you’ve captured the reflection in the water.
Very cool shot Mark! Terrific sky and reflection! Have a great weekend!
Nice image, Mark. The texture in those clouds is wonderful.
