HDR – Street Singers are So Entertaining

I’m not sure if busking is legal in New Bern North Carolina, but this guy seems to be getting away with it. While doing my HDR photo walk in this fine city, I happened upon this singer doing his act in front of the Middle Street Antiques & Flea Market. He wasn’t drawing much of a crowd and I couldn’t find a cup or any way to help support his street career. So, I just stopped to enjoy the entertainment.

With no crowd to deal with, I was able to get up close for a more personal shot. He didn’t seem to mind my camera and never even flinched when I started shooting. Nice guy, but he seemed to be hung up on one note. :) Processing: These images were each produced from nine exposures at .5 ev spacing from -2 to +2 ev and loaded into Nik HDR Efex Pro. Very little tone mapping was needed so I moved them into Adobe Photoshop where I used Shadows/Highlights, Hue/Saturation and High Pass filter. I then loaded them into Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 for monochrome conversion. I used the #18 Full Spectrum Inverse preset and increased Structure by 25%.

Equipment used: Nikon D700 with 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens,35mm, f/8,  ISO 400 and 35mm, f/4.8 ISO 400. Handheld.
