This is another HDR image of the Washington, North Carolina boardwalk. Monday’s post was facing West so I simply turned around, moved a few feet back and grabbed this view. On such a beautiful day, it’s difficult to limit oneself to unidirectional shooting.
As usual, sky, clouds, water, boats, people, gulls and boardwalk all cooperated very nicely for this kinda touristy snapshotish image.
Processing: About the same as Monday. “Five shots loaded into Nik HDR Efex Pro for tone mapping. I really wanted to bring the shadow areas up to match the darker tones while maintaining a natural look. This was done with control points where I usually bring the exposure down and then add structure. I can also saturate or de-saturate specific areas according to taste. Overall balance was done in Adobe Photoshop with Shadow/Highlight. I finished with Hue/Saturation to bring the colors back to reality since the Nik software seems to over saturate a bit.”
Equipment used: Nikon D700 with 20-35mm f/3.5-4.5 lens set to f/27, ISO 200. Manfrotto 190XPROB with 486RC2 ball head.

Lovely shot, Mark. Cool shadows.
Appreciate your comment, Eden. I really like to work with shadows like this as it’s a challenge to retain the details. Thanks!
